I have photographs like this of practically every scene inside Spaceship Earth. This isn't the first I've shared—the garage in California and the first backup system have permanent places on the site. But this is the one that makes me sigh with a little bit of extra longing.
If I could just be a student forever, sit back and relax and learn for learnings sake...I would have loved that. I admit a little bit of envy every time we pass this scene. A group in full recline, just happily listening to a lecture on mathematics. What a life that would be.
Like any shot inside Spaceship Earth, this was just an exercise in maximizing light. I had my 50mm lens opened to f/1.2, my shutter speed at 1/50 seconds even though we were moving, and ISO still landed at 2000. The result after edits looks a little like an oil painting, which feels fitting to the subject matter.
