Disney didn’t officially acquire Lucasfilm, including the Indiana Jones franchise, until 2012, but at that point they’d already partnered with Lucas and had been using Indiana Jones in the Parks via licensing agreements for decades. We saw the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular! starting in the late 1980s with the opening of Hollywood Studios (then MGM). Then there was the Indiana Jones Adventure: Temple of the Forbidden Eye in California and Indiana Jones et le Temple du Péril in Paris in the mid-90s.
This version of the attraction is Indiana Jones Adventure: Temple of the Crystal Skull in Tokyo DisneySea. Much like its counterpart in California, it’s a stunningly grand attraction with masterful storytelling and a queue that rivals many actual attractions. The facade, pictured here, is a foreboding part of the park, set in dense foliage that only adds to the mood.
