Enchanted Storytelling (Gallery-Wrapped Canvas)

In October 2019, the doors to what was once Mizner’s at the Grand Floridian reopened—but, this time, the space was renamed Enchanted Rose Lounge and rethemed, with remarkable subtlety, to Disney’s Beauty and the Beast.

This transformation is such a testament to Disney’s skill at weaving its stories seamlessly into the very fabric of its real world spaces. Every detail, from its rose motifs to the chandelier that channels Belle’s iconic gown, is a nod to the classic—but it’s all achieved with a subtlety that doesn’t miss a step in the overall feel of the Grand Floridian.

This reminds me so much of what Walt had in mind when he first dreamed of Disneyland and, later, Walt Disney World. He wanted a place where visitors could step into the stories, where they could live the fairy tales and adventures he'd shown us on screen—transforming passive entertainment into real, immersive experiences.

At Enchanted Rose, Imagineers seemed to have achieved this largely by focusing not on a literal recreation of the story, but instead on evoking its emotion and themes like love and transformation. The lounge itself becomes a place where guests can experience the magic of a beloved fairytale from the vantage point of their own very real lives.

This translucent window sits between the bar area of Enchanted Rose and the 2nd floor of the grand lobby of the Grand Floridian just outside its doors—managing to give a hint of both the space inside and, when you notice the faint chandelier lamps from the Grand's main lobby reflected in the glass, the space beyond.
