1-Day Listing: Yacht Lighthouse [July 28th only]

I have been so excited to kick off this week—I feel like I have so many recent photographs to share.

That's in large part because I've been finding myself at some of my favorite places at sunrise and, needless to say, everything looks a hundred times prettier as the sun is just coming up. I was over at Caribbean Beach and Riviera for a sunrise portrait shoot (and to scope out the lighting for it the morning before). I need to share some of those images with you. They turned out beautifully. My dear friend, and a long time client's, son is starting his senior year and we did an incredible photoshoot around those resorts and on the Skyliner just as the sun was coming up.

Then I was over at Wilderness Lodge for a couple of nights with my family. I'll be sharing more of those pictures, too.

And then we were over here, staying at Beach Club. Last week I talked about heading out to shoot on the Boardwalk at sunrise. This is one of the shots from that morning. It was funny. I rolled out of bed, brushed my teeth, threw on sweats, and wandered outside, totally forgetting that there would be plenty of families up and about for early starts on the day. (I assume they were all headed to Animal Kingdom...) Luckily though, it was still very peaceful and quiet on the Boardwalk itself, and I had views like this one, with the sand still smooth and unmarked other than my own footsteps behind me, the long empty stretch of dock, and the lighthouse reflecting the first light of the sun—all, of course, with our beloved Boardwalk in the background over Crescent Lake.

I often like to open the week with a big one—a more iconic view, and if this doesn't fit that bill I don't know what does.

Taken with the Sony and my beloved 50mm, shot wide open at f/1.2 to turn everything but the lighthouse into a bit of a blurry dream. Shutter speed needed to drop to 1/8000 seconds to tamp down the resulting light. ISO right at 100.
