Yesterday was one of those crazy, almost surreal days. The sort of day I daydreamed about when we were planning to move down here—with a dose of hectic work and life layered on top.
Woke up at 5:45 as always to get Maddox up and off to school. Dropped him off at 7 and was back home for Tyson by 7:15. Same routine with him—drop-off at 8:15. Went for a run. Got ready. Worked for a few hours. Picked Maddox up. Worked some more. Made dinner. Picked Tyson up after his musical dress rehearsal. Took them to sculpture class.
Used the 2 hours they were there to sprint to Magic Kingdom for pictures. Walked in and saw her, grey again at the height of golden hour, 15 minutes before sunset.
I didn’t think it would affect me so much but I got choked up. The rose was pretty enough but this...this is Cinderella Castle. Getting her back feels like such a gift.
I took countless pictures of her and then did a full loop and then some around the park with two lenses. So excited to share some of what I got over the coming weeks.
And then, as I was sprinting back out of the park to pick up the kids, the lights suddenly dimmed for Starlight and they played the Main Street Electrical Parade intro just before the final announcement and I got hit with another wave of emotion.
Sometimes I start to take this crazy setting for our day-to-day lives for granted, and then something like this happens and I realize where I am. That I’m running down Main Street with my camera on a random Thursday night, my house a mile and change away as the crow flies, while my kids are in after-school activities.
What a life.
What a view.
