Opening on May 16, 1991, exactly one year after his passing, this attraction was Jim Henson’s final directorial project and, in the end, a heartfelt tribute to his legacy. And on June 7, 2025, it closed its doors after a 34 year run amidst so much love and appreciation. Crowds gathered in the courtyard. PhotoPass lines for pictures in front of Ms. Liberty (Piggy) extended out onto the street. The queue for the attraction itself wove in and out of the area, into Batuu and back, everyone lining up for one last showing.

I shared a reel on my Instagram of my final viewing with the boys—just a few clips to show everyone in the audience participating, echoing the gags and singing and clapping along with the music. Later that night, Jim's daughter would be the final person to enter the theater for the final viewing.

This picture was taken that last night and so it's infused with all of that love.

Taken at 90mm, 1/250 seconds, f/2.8, ISO 8000. Embraced the grain in edits.
