I've taken dozens upon dozens of pictures of the monorail in the other direction, with a backdrop of water, flowers, the Imagination Pavilion... The other day I was more drawn to this. The clean lines. I spotted this split curve between Test Track and the monorail track and stood unmoving near the Festival of the Arts sidewalk chalk for a good 10 minutes waiting for this moment.
Taken at 35mm and cropped, 1/160 second, f/8.0, ISO 100. Got home and stripped it down to its simplest elements and leaned into the grain. The same view you might have seen when the park opened 44 years ago. No umbrellas. No posts. No people. Just a simple monorail gliding over the water with what was once World of Motion in the background. Like going back in time.
I will continue to share these with you every day. Not in spite of the state of the world, but because of it. I think we all need a little peace and magic now more than ever.
