Single-Day Series: WL Dock I & II (April 4th)

Thought we'd end the week with a visit back to Wilderness Lodge since it's one of our favorite places. This time I'm focusing on the dock. It's funny, the details that you start to notice around here when you're sharing a photograph every day. Don't get me wrong—I've always known there were beautiful boat docks here. But I've started to realize lately how much they're all scenes in and of themselves. It makes me want to do a series of just the docks and boats around property.

This first image sets the dock between two trees covered in spanish moss. All of the foliage at Wilderness Lodge is meant to evoke the Pacific Northwest and this of course is no exception. Shot at 35mm, 1/500 seconds, f/2.0, ISO 100.

This second picture is less traditionally composed. Truth told I overlooked it the first time I went through the pictures from this day. But later I took my time a little more and this just stole my heart. You can feel golden hour in the air.

Taken over the water from the walkway out to the dock area—35mm, 1/500 sec, f/2.0, ISO 100.

I know this one is unconventional, but just personally it's one of my favorite pictures I've taken in awhile. It calms me.
