I took so many new photos during the holidays while I wasn't sending these daily emails. Now I'll be looking for an image for Wild Wednesday and remember three others that I wanted to show you from DAK. Or looking back at a trip to Studios and realizing that I had another from there that I was excited for you to see.

This was one from DAK that I remembered as I was choosing an animal image for Wild Wednesday this week. It's one of those pictures that I just...hope you get the way that I do? I wondered if you'd recognize exactly where it was taken right away. It's in the queue for Kilimanjaro Safaris. Once you've been in line for what feels like forever, and you reach the final stretch where the videos are playing and various animal facts are spaced along the wall. And to the left, there are a few small windows that open out onto the boarding area below. I always love peeking out them. Everything is so lush and green and the Safari vehicles are clopping along to load and unload passengers. You can see them through the foliage and whatever flowers happen to be blooming at the time. It's just a really welcome view.

I took a moment to aim my lens out the first of these windows last week. Had my 50mm and was shooting wide open at f/1.2 because I wanted nothing but the back of the closest truck to be crisp and clear with everything else a blur around it. To dampen the resulting light and further freeze the detail of the truck in time, I set my shutter speed to 1/1000 second. ISO was set to auto within a safe range and landed right at 320.

When I look at it I feel a sense of peace. But also anticipation. That moment just before we're there.
