The Wedding Pavilion over Seven Seas lagoon near sunset with the Polynesian’s new tower, bungalows, and main buildings in the distance—taken with my brand-new-to-me Leica D-Lux 8 as I strolled the grounds this weekend.
The Grand Floridian’s wedding pavilion opened in July 1995 and so celebrates its 30th anniversary this summer. They call it the “crown jewel” of Disney weddings. When Imagineers were planning its construction, they wanted to maximize its views of Cinderella Castle across the water, so they built the tiny island where it now sits on the banks of the Grand Floridian over Seven Seas Lagoon. The window that overlooks the castle from inside the pavilion not only looks directly at the Castle, but also serves as an actual magnifying glass that makes it look even closer than it is. Just one more bit of proof that no detail goes unchecked around here.
Taken with the new Leica at f/5.6, 1/640 seconds to tamp down the Florida sun a bit, and ISO 200.
