Taken on a hot summer morning in challenging conditions with the extreme highlights and shadows. I was shooting with my 50mm, opened up all of the way to f/1.2 with my shutter speed dialed all the way down to 1/8000 sec to counter the brightest light. ISO was set to auto within a safe range and leapt all the way up to 1600 for this shot. If I'd seen it I probably would have slowed down the shutter speed or lowered the aperture a bit, but I'm glad I didn't because the overall effect here is just what I wanted in the end—and the fact that it's a split second in time (shutter) with wide eyes (aperture) feels appropriate to the attraction.
