Sometimes a picture has taken me awhile to share because it's almost TOO obvious a subject.
Maui, the mischievous god of the people, first made his appearance on signage and paperwork at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort back in the 70s. Perhaps as a nod to that nostalgia, Imagineers were kind enough to give him a front and center role in the lobby back in 2014 when they shuttered it for renovations and removed the beloved central waterfall.
Today, this tiki statue is as iconic as anything else at the Poly and, at least for me, the symbol of the resort as a whole. When I think about being here, I think about this view.
