Long before they announced the coming of a villains land at Magic Kingdom, Disney hosted an after hours villains event in the park—and as a part of it they brought the Maleficent float from Festival of Fantasy out in the dark of night and rolled her through the streets breathing fire while heavy metal music played in the background. It was a pretty surreal experience to watch in person. The scene was so far from anything I'd ever seen in the Happiest Place on Earth.
She looked so much different in the dark of night. Every detail of her steampunk-style design popped. I've shared pictures of her from these nights before, but never from this angle—where every seam and cog and stitch of her wings is visible. Far and away one of the coolest and most unique things I've ever seen in a park and I doubt we'll ever see it again.
This was taken with my 35mm at f/1.4 to make the most of the limited light, 1/250 seconds to freeze her movement, ISO 1600 to compensate for the rest of the darkness.
