Single-Day Series: The Overlook (December 15th)

I was in the mood for a little peace this week, so thought we'd start with this. My younger son wanted to meet up with a friend at Animal Kingdom on Saturday so we tagged along and I was snapping the whole time. I have a slew of new pictures to share with you, but this was one of my favorites. An unconventional view—the overlook over Discovery River around Harambe, as you walk from Africa into Asia. Normally you'd look straight ahead or to the right at the Tree of Life (and I have plenty of shots of that angle) but how often have you shifted your gaze to the left? This quiet view of the bridge into Asia is so peaceful. And I love looking at it from here because it is completely off the beaten path. When you are down here by the water you are, by definition, not running anywhere.

I'd killed the battery on my Sony at this point in the day so was shooting on my Leica...but I'm kind of glad I was restricted to it because the quality of these images is so different. I was set at about a 50mm equivalent, 1/500 second, f/2.7, ISO 250.
