Single-Day Series: The Marathon (January 12th)

Yesterday marked the last day of the Dopey Challenge—the full marathon through Walt Disney World, which took us through all four parks and the beloved Blizzard Beach parking lot. It was a stunningly beautiful morning and I was struck with just how many scenic views there are on property, not just in open view (we all know about those!) but backstage as well.

I was trying just to be in the moment and minimize how much my phone and its camera were out, but I couldn't help but snap a few views along the way. I had trouble choosing which to include this morning...in part because I've shared versions of this view of Space Mountain reflected over the water from other races. But, with the marathon's timing, the sun was just starting to show its light as we passed it this time and the pinks and blues in the sky reflected on the water made for a different look than we've seen before.

I love the new path we've been taking into and out of Magic Kingdom. It's the reverse of what we used to do, now entering by the Grand pathway with the Water Pageant out, and exiting toward the Contemporary. It affords us this rare view of Space Mountain over the water that you don't normally get to see as a regular park-goer.
