I wandered EPCOT for a couple of hours yesterday while the kids were at school, taking dozens of photographs. There are a few others that I'm really excited to share with you...but I opted to start with this one.
While I was walking, I spotted this angle through a flower bed between The Land and The Seas pavilions and realized the gorgeous view of the monorail that I'd have when it came through.
And so I decided to wait. And wait. And wait. I waited so long that I started to wonder if the monorail was down, but at that point I'd sunk so much time into this photo attempt that I couldn't give up. When it finally came through I was thrilled that it was Monorail Red. I had the camera on burst mode with the settings dialed in to what I thought would work well and just held the shutter button down as it passed through the frame. I'd originally thought that I'd want the monorail entering the frame from the right...but when I went back and looked at what I'd gotten I realized that this shot, with the monorail exiting the scene between the sunflower and Spaceship Earth, was the winner.
It was so worth the wait—this ended up being one of my favorites of the season. Just goes to show, sometimes you just need to have a little patience and stick it out.
Taken at 50mm, 1/200 second, f/6.3, ISO 100. Edits were fairly light, just to lean into the airiness of the scene.
