Almost stuck around at DAK for another day, but I thought we might all want some variety so I'm taking us over to Gran Destino this morning instead. I was there for a portrait shoot on Monday and walked around on my own beforehand to get a sense of crowds, lighting, etc. Needless to say the resort is all decked out for the holidays, including a gorgeous tree that sits down by Barcelona Lounge and extends up a full level to be visible at the main entrance lobby.
This is one of two massive murals that span the length of the walls on either side of Barcelona lounge—Walt and a the likeness of Dahlia, the main female character of Destino, the abandoned short that Walt started with Salvador Dalí that was later revived by Walt's nephew in 2003. You'll find nods to Destino and Dahlia throughout Gran Destino Tower.
You can find Dalhia's mural here as well.
While I was there on Monday I snapped these photos through the greenery and lights of Gran Destino's massive Christmas tree.
Both were taken at around 100mm, 1/50 second, f/2.8 to blur the foreground, and ISO 200.
These murals actually extend upwards from opposite sides of Barcelona Lounge, but you could hang them side by side and they'd look like the right and left sides of a single view.
