I popped into Magic Kingdom late morning yesterday to do a loop and ride the new Buzz Lightyear. Buzz is a major upgrade. While I do miss the ability to properly max out on points, the blasters that can be lifted are so much easier to use, there seem to be more targets, and, biggest change of all, they respond when you hit them!! The laser points change color based on whether you hit your target and the targets themselves visibly respond when hit. The surrounding room also responds more—for example, the volcano always sort of half-heartedly smoked when you hit that top target, but now the reaction is way more pronounced and satisfying.
Also worth noting, the line looked really long when I got into it despite being posted as only a 20 minute wait, but it moves FAST! I don't think we stopped walking once from start to finish.
Overall, two thumbs up. Have you ridden it yet?
All of that aside, on the way out I stopped and took this lovely picture of the Main Street Station with spring flowers in the foreground. If you've never stopped to read the window here, it says "Walt Disney World Railroad Office, Keeping Dreams on Track, Walter E. Disney, Chief Engineer".
Chief Engineer indeed. 🥹
Taken at 35mm, f/1.4 to blur the foreground, 1/5000 second to tamp down the resulting light, ISO 100.
