I was standing in the queue for Snow White’s Enchanted Wish and saw this view through the trees and snapped this picture and it ended up being one of my favorites of the trip.

King Arthur Carrousel was one of Disneyland’s original opening-day attractions, operating in the park since July 17, 1955. But it’s been around for over a hundred years. Walt purchased the 1922 Dentzel carousel that had previously operated at Sunnyside Beach Park in Toronto, then had it brought to California and reworked for Fantasyland.

Walt wanted all horses and all “jumpers” (the horses that go up and down), so the original carousel was modified accordingly. Other animals from the version of the ride that he’d purchased were put into storage, and standing horses were altered so they would appear to leap.

One hundred years of history through the trees. Taken at 135mm, 1/500 second, f/2.8, ISO 100.
