We've shared a few images from our cruise on the Destiny so far, and I don't want to inundate you, but until today we had yet to go inside the ship. So far it's just been pictures of Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, or of the ship as a whole from that pier. So today, I thought we'd finally go inside.
This is the Grand Hall of the Destiny. That place where you first enter when your party's name is announced, and where the passengers gather to see various shows, including the ongoing Marvel-themed adventure that takes you from the start of the cruise to the farewell on the final night.
I woke up early or stayed up late several times to tackle this space. It's sweeping—well-deserving of the "grand" in its name. I went out with different lenses. Took every available angle, from the top of that staircase to here, on the stage itself, and out in this direction. I got close to Black Panther and I got farther away.
In the end I landed on this image of the space from the main stage with our hero in focus, the staircase creating movement, and the chandelier exploding overhead. It was before dawn on the last full day of the cruise, and I was shooting with my 14mm...but when I went to edit this final shot I ended up opting for this vertical crop that highlights these key elements instead of the wide landscape version that captured the entire space. Less distraction.
I took this at 14mm and cropped it to this portrait version, 1/50 second, f/4.0 to maintain light without sacrificing too much depth, ISO 1000.
