What better spot in all of Walt Disney World? There are a lot of great fireplaces at Wilderness Lodge (I count 4 or 5 quickly off the top of my head) but this one is an icon. The 82-foot tall structure is made to mimic the strata of the Grand Canyon, layer upon layer representing billions of years of Earth’s history. I’ve lost track of the number of minutes I’ve spent rocking in one of those chairs, waiting for family to gather in the lobby or for a table at Wilderness Lodge or taking a break from a work day in my favorite office, the Carolwood Pacific Room at Boulder Ridge.
I took a long walk around Wilderness Lodge with my camera yesterday and left with dozens of pictures, so let me know if you’d like more in the coming weeks. For this, I was at a focal length of 35mm (cropped a bit in editing), 1/160 sec, f/4.5, ISO100. Tried every vantage point to get the angle right.
