You can see every last tooth in this shot but this Malayan Flying Fox on the Maharaja Jungle Trek at Disney’s Animal Kingdom lives on fruit, not bugs or blood. They’re among the largest bats in the world with wingspans that can stretch up to 6 feet and that look almost like stained glass when spread like this against the sun. And their daily habits help to spread seeds, pollinate plants, and generally keep rainforests healthy, making them more nighttime gardener than fearsome creature of darkness.

But none of that means that he wouldn't be a super creepy addition to your Halloween decor. Especially for those of you who are starting to swap out your usual prints for the holidays...

I stood and watched him for ages before finally capturing this moment at just the right angle. Taken at around 260mm, 1/800 seconds, f/6.3, ISO 5000.
