The Main Street Electrical Parade had its last run at Magic Kingdom on September 10, 2016. That was almost a year before we moved here, so I have no memories of it as a local and in a way I'm glad for that—it's forever ingrained in my subconscious as the stuff of childhood and vacations. It reminds me of sitting on my dad's shoulders at the end of the night and looking for the fancy turtle and Pete's Dragon. The music still transports me—it's actually the ring tone on my phone.
All of this to say—I miss that vibe. The energy on Main Street waiting for the spectacle. Because, don't get me wrong, fireworks and Castle projections are great, but there's just something intimate about the parade at the end of a long day. I took this waiting for the soft opening of the new Starlight Parade and you could just feel the buzz in the air. I think it comes right through in this picture.
True to the focus of the parade, I was more intent on what was in front of me, standing just beyond the flagpole looking down Main Street, than the Castle in the distance. I shot this at around 90mm, 1/100 second, f/4.0, ISO 1000.
