Cheers to spooky season. In a place where it’s perpetual summer other than evenings in December and a few days of brutally cold winter over Marathon Weekend (unless it’s 90 degrees), we note the passing of seasons with Festivals and holiday decorations. Butterfly tents and carpets of flowers? It must be Flower and Garden and spring. Stunning lights and trees and Candlelight Processional and general merriment everywhere? It’s November or December. Art all over EPCOT? Must be just after the New Year. And, perhaps strangest of all, a sudden appearance of pumpkins as the heat is just peaking? Welcome to mid-August, Disney-style.
The decorations went up just before the first Not So Scary party on Friday evening. Main Street is covered in Mickey pumpkins and autumn bunting. And everything feels just a little spookier—despite the heat.
